The Underdog Samurai Hank: Paws of Fury

Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank premiered today and it is literally hilarious from beginning to end – so if you haven’t purchased your ticket yet, go ahead and head over to Fandango!

The movie is all about a poor dog named Hank who finds himself in a town where only cats are allowed. He just wants to be a great Samauri and the townies just want him dead. Luckily enough for him, the villainous Ika Chu (yes yes Ika Chu like Pikachu) who wants to wipe the small village of Kakamucho off the map, has the not-so-brilliant idea to send Hank down to the village as its newest Samuari where he is sure he’d be stoned. For a second there, we thought he might be but he was able to win them over!

With the encouragement of the cutest kittens and a reluctant teacher (hey Samuel L. Jackson) to train him, the underdog must learn how to be a true samurai and team up with the villagers to save them from destruction.

The movie has a ton of hilarious references to other movies such as “The cuteness is strong with this one” – a nod to star wars and “That’s NWA out there. Ninjas with attitude.”

The children might not catch it but this movie also has a real political spin to it – touching on things like racism and gun violence. When Ika Chu’s henchmen are bringing Hank to be executed, he asks one of them why does he even hate dogs? The henchman goes on to say something along the lines of,  “I don’t know my father hates dogs so it feels like the right thing to do.” In another instance, a cat from Kakamucho introduces a gun to the villagers and when one asks “Is it dangerous,” and he responds with “Guns don’t kill cats. Cars and curiosity kill cats. Stop being curious. You’ll kill us all.” I love when movies get a little spicy and rile up the people!

#PawsOfFury is a great watch for the whole family! After watching make sure to come back here to drop a comment on your favorite funny from the movie!
