The Jurassic Park franchise has been in the universe since 1993 and has held a pretty captive audience ever since. The newest film, Jurassic World: Dominion, is a box office hit grossing over $386 million in its first week.
Should you go see it in theaters….absolutely! In World Dominion we see Dinosaurs have taken over the world, some friendly, some chopping folks heads off. Of course with the world living with dinosaurs, there is underground shadiness happening like breeding, black market trading, and dino fighting but that’s really not that big of a deal considering what the movie is really about.

If you have not seen Jurassic World or Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, do not pass go! You will be confused – hightail it back to 2015 and come back when you’ve seen them both.

Owen and Claire have moved into a small town away from the rest of the world (however Blue and her little baby Beta happen to be nearby) to keep a little secret safe – Maisie, the little girl genetically engineered by scientist Charlotte Lockwood. She is thick into her teenage rebellion, tired of having to hide in a random shack, and wanting to find herself some identity. Well as they say “parents” know best – Maise finds herself kidnapped by BioSyn, a “research facility” and animal “sanctuary” and Owen and Claire have to figure out how to get her back. Unfortunately, Beta is also kidnapped, and in a TEAR JERKING MOMENT, Blue corners Owen and he promises to get her little back. Yawl I know Blue is not a real animal however, I absolutely felt her pain in that movie theater.
There is a very long, pretty..intense..cat and mouse attempt to grab the person who took Maise, and eventually, they had to get a little help from the GORGEOUS Kayla Watts played by the one and only DeWanda Wise, a pilot, and smuggler who does a lot of illegal freelance work. To me, she really brought the most comedy to this movie and I feel like it wouldn’t have been the same without her.
Listen bring some tissue because the movie is lowkey a tear-jerker:
- When Claire found out Maise had been kidnapped and she immediately jumped into mama mode even after Maise and her had been bumping heads all day.
- As discussed above, Blue was really hurt about her baby being taken and looked to Owen to bring her back safely. Owen is like her dad and it really just brought tears to my eyes.
- When Claire tased Soyona – the lady behind the trades – and asked “Where is my daughter?”
- LAWD! When Owen told Claire she had to get off that plane because she was her mother and her only shot – I could have wept for days!
- Maise screaming “It’s my parents” and realizing her parents had come to save her.
- Blue being reunited with Beta and running away with her just to run back and give Owen a good thank you stare and head raise – I completely LOST IT!
I think they really set this movie up to be the end of the franchise (or at least I hope they did). The movie had such a happy ending and I feel like coming back for number 7 would be a bad move.
