The One Show Without a SINGLE Bad Episode!

Eugene and Dan Levy must have had a download from heaven about Schitt’s Creek because SCHITT’S CREEK, SCHITTS CREEK BABY! – NOT A SINGLE BAD EPISODE!

I had no idea about this show until April when my friend mentioned it as I was having a severe case of the Quarantine blues. At first I thought, we’ve seen this before in several shows, what new could they be doing – BUT I WAS WRONG. Schitt’s Creek is PURE comedy from Season 1 Episode 1 to Season 6 Episode 14. It took me about a month to finish the show (if that) because you literally want to keep watching to see what the Rose’s run into next.

Ok ok ok. So here it is: the uber rich Rose’s (yep that’s my last name too), lost all of their money due to their business manager embezzling their funds. They would have had nowhere to turn if they had not bought this small little town, Schitt’s Creek, for their son David as a joke. Thinking that they were going to be moving into this luxurious town, the Rose’s are more than disappointed to find themself in a rundown motel with a mayor who is a little…eccentric.  Side Note: Eugene Levy is familiar with this role as he played a similar character in Tyler Perry’s Witness Protection where he learns his company is a Ponzi Scheme.

The now broke Rose’s consist of Johnny and Moira Rose, the previous owner of Rose Video and an actress on the highly acclaimed Sunrise Bay and David and Alexis, the adult children who are used to living in the lap of luxury. They aren’t particularly close but now have to find a way to navigate not having any money and living in a small motel with each other.

The show touches on SO many relevant topics.  From navigating family dynamics to polyamory, from trying to find your purpose to trying to find love, the show is really just a huge bundle of laughter, tears, and feel good moments. The biggest one for me is how well they normalized LGBTQ relationships in the show. It flowed so well and was so heartwarming to see on the screen.

“I Like The Wine And Not The Label.”

In every episode you get to see how each character grows and changes and finds themselves while adapting to their new situation. By the end of the show you will be in tears, you will feel lost knowing there is unlikely another show that can replace those 80 episodes you just invested your heart into. You will wonder if another season will come out, will there be a spinoff and the answer is no –  although a movie has been rumoured about. If you are ready to dive into the BEST show i’ve ever seen head on over to Netflix and hit play!

Key Takeaways

  • Never judge anyone or their situation because it could very well be you one day
  • Make the best of your surroundings.
  • When you let go of your disappointment you make way for things to blossom.
