IMT’s Favorite Valentine’s Movie + $100 V-Day Giveaway

Ah. Love is beginning to fill the air and what better way to celebrate than with a review and giveaway! If you’ve never seen the 2011 movie, Jumping the Broom, you are missing out on a delectable treat. Starring a truly wonderful all-star cast, Jumping the Broom, is all about when two families from different sides of the track come together for a wedding. Now Weddings always have their drama but these families put the mess in messy. The bride (Sabrina) comes from OLD MONEY, you know that money that allows you to purchase your own Martha’s Vineyard like her family in the movie. The groom (Jason) is from a working class family. 

When the two families get together Jason’s mother (Ms. Taylor) is immediately apprehensive of their overly wealthy lifestyle and the fact that she hasn’t met the family is super  disrespectful to her. What fans the flames of distrust even more is Sabrina’s refusal to “Jump the Broom” she brought at her wedding. For those of you who may not know Jumping the Broom was a way for African- American Slaves to signify their marriage since they were not allowed to have formal weddings like we see today. 

Mrs. Taylor is very vocal about her disdain and she makes it known.  EVERYTHING hits the fan when Ms. Taylor overhears the biggest plot twist of the movie. Auntie Geneva is actually Sabrina’s mother and of course the spot gets blown up. Is the wedding off? Will they get married? You’ll have to grab your boo or your gals to see how the drama unfolds. Outside of the storyline the movie was beautifully filmed and FUNNY! It’s a great watch!
